moving to Joomla cms.

We are moving our website to Joomla cms (content management system). The move will take about two weeks. We have finished moving all incidents for 1940 and 1941. Incidents for 1942 are "work in progress". Some changes will be made to the look of the site in the next few weeks. If you have questions or would like information regarding incidents that are not ready please contact us at stridsminjar(a)

Update: October 27, 2016. We are almost there. Just a few incidents from 1944 and 1945 and then we are done.

Early morning on the June, 17 (Iceland's Independents day) we set off to visit 3 crash sites on Mt. Fagradalsfjall.Kort 17.06.2016 With me where Mr. Hjálmar Árnason director of Keilir Institute of Technology, Mr. Ólafur Jón Arnbjörnsson director of GeoCamp and The Icelandic College of Fisheries and Mr. Agnar Guðmundsson a Computer Specialist. All keen outdoorsmen and history buffs.

The plan was to visit the three crash sites on Mt. Fagradalsfjall from WWII. Kast where the B-24 Liberator Hot Stuff crashed with Lt. Gen. Andrews and his entourage on May 3. 1943. Langhóll where a Short Sunderland flying boat crashed on April 24, 1941, and Langahrygg where a Matin Mariner flying boat crashed on November 2, 1941.

Hikers by Short Sunderland remainsThe circle we walked is about 16 km. and took us about 5 hours. The weather was quite good and we had a good day on the mountain. Hjálmar found a small piece of cloth buried in the ground by the crash site of the Martin Mariner , he took it with him and will have a technician at the Keilir Institute to have a look at it.
