The incident:P 40 Curtiss Warhawk in flight

The aircraft flown by pilot Bigelow, John W. force landed due to engine failure near the farm Fitjar in east part of Skorradalur in Borgarbyggð. The area where the aircraft landed is both wet and dry land and is named "Grímsforir".
The aircraft was dismantled and salvaged for spares.
