Douglas Boston (Havoc) Mk. III s/n BZ287No88 Sqn Boston over Dieppe

The Incident: 

BZ287 was on ferry flight on the second ferry route from Dorval, Quebec through Goose Bay, Greenland, and Iceland to Great Britain. The aircraft night landed at Meeks Airfield in Iceland and doing so collided with a petrol drum on the runway and was badly damaged.

The Crew: 

Flight Sergeant O R Ballantyne †
Ltd. Van Tostrup Wessel, fate unknown.
Unknown additional crew member survived.
