The Incident:

The Fw 200 (stationed in Vaernes, Norway) was on a reconnaissance flight over the western part of Iceland. The Fw 200 was intercepted by two USAAF P39 fighters over Faxabay. The fighter pilots managed to damage the Fw 200, it was reported in flames heading NE from Borgarnes. The German aircraft crashes in the south west slopes of Kleppatagl (elevation 407 m) on Arnarvatnsheiði.
2 nd Lt Michael J Ingleside and 2nd Lt. Thurman F Morrison of the USAAF 33rd Fighter Squadron flying the P39´s, were credited with a victory over the Fw200C-4 and awarded Silver Stars for the achievement.

Luftwaffe aircraft loss register states that Fw 200 C-4 W.nr. 0131 went missing October 24, 1942.
