The Incident:

Flight Officer Ashley flying Hudson s/n T9391 on reconnaissance flight1 North of Iceland.
One engine failed and Ashley made a forced landing (ditched) 90 km North West of Ísafjörður.

1RAF Event Report records “Homing exercise” as the purpose of the flight.

The Crew:

Crew of four all killed in the accident and are buried in the Fossvogur Cemetery in Reykjavík.
