N-3PB Northrop, c/n 316 SNorthrop N 3PB 01


The Incident:

Aircraft, code GS S, made emergency landing on the ocean shore south of the glacier Vatnajökull. The aircraft was flying from Reykjavík to Búðareyri. The reason for emergency landing, was engine shut down caused by water contaminated fuel. The pilot decided to land on the sandy beach in stead of the rough sea. After repair the aircraft took off from the sea and comleted the flight mission.
